Cover Photo: Memorial Day 2021 – The Elsie, Laingsburg and Ovid communities gathered for Memorial Day Services on Monday, May 31, 2021. The services returned following the pandemic shutdown of 2020. Taking part in the ceremonies were Honor Guards of Legion Post 248 of Laingsburg, Legion Post 502 of Elsie and VFW Post 8964 of Ovid. Senator, Tom Barrett was the Key Note Speaker in Elsie, Mayor, Bill Lasher spoke at the Ovid ceremony and Post Commander, Alex Hagerty did the MC honors in Laingsburg. Pastors Audie Clairmont, Keith Whipple and Andy Goodrich offered the opening prayers and benedictions. The cemeteries were beautifully groomed, the flags were placed at Veteran’s graves and the abundant flowers were visible throughout. All three communities look forward to the return of parades and Memorial Day luncheons in 2022.
