OVID-ELSIE — Coach Josh Latz’s Marauders boys basketball team bid a fond farewell to their home court in championship style here February 25.

They grabbed a tri-share of the 2022-23 MMAC championship when Durand gift-wrapped an 11-point victory over previous league leader Chesaning the same evening.
O-E, Durand and Chesaning all finish 12-2 in conference play. The Marauders’ share came with a tougher-than-expected 66-52 win over winless Otisville-Lakeville (0-14, 0-20) that sent the Ovid-Elsie seniors out in style. For Latz’s charges, it was their 5th MMAC crown in the past six years.
Senior forward Clay Wittenberg again led O-E with 19 points, eight rebounds and two assists. Fellow senior Logan Thompson joined him in the double-digit column with 13 points and four steals. Braxton Stenger contributed eight points, seven steals, five assists and four rebounds, while Gunner McCreery added eight points, four rebounds and three assists. The Marauders closed out their regular with games opposite non-league opponents Eaton Rapids and Portland — a good test before entering MHSAA District play at New Lothrop this week
