Fully Staffed Police Department

By Deb Price

The City of Ovid Police Department has a new chief, 2 full time and 3 part time officers in place. Lisa Rousseau joined the department in August and was named chief in September. She graduated from the Mid-Michigan College in 2007, she and her husband, Chad reside in St Johns. Lisa also teaches Criminal Justice to high school juniors and seniors at RESA thru Mid-Michigan College. “I, along with my staff have received a warm welcome from City of Ovid residents. The department has been running on a skeleton crew lately and officer Bobby Watson deserves a great big thank-you for going above and beyond in carrying the department thru the transition,” explained Rousseau. Police coverage will be available daily before and after school, most evenings and weekends.

Full-time officers include, Andrew Mason, recent Ferris State graduate and Jaclyn Allen, a seasoned officer who came here from Meridian Township Department. Rounding out the department are part-time officers, Rick Hogle, a returning officer to the City and St Johns residents, Bobby Watson and Ben Helms.

On Sunday, October 16th from 11am-2pm, there will be a meet and greet with the department in downtown Ovid. The re-scheduled Ovid Carriage Days car show and a pumpkin decorating will also take place on that day. Registration for the car show will be at 10am, for more information, call Nate Hofferbert at 989-666-2667. See next weeks Meridian Weekly for more
